On May 19, i-dle‘s Yuqi addressed recent backlash regarding her remarks about concert ticket distribution, offering a sincere apology during the press conference for the group’s 8th mini-album We are.

Speaking candidly, Yuqi bowed her head and said, “First of all, I’m sorry. I truly didn’t mean it that way.” She explained that her comments, made during a recent appearance on Salon Drip 2, were intended as a joke aimed at her agency—not the fans.

“When I appear on variety shows, I get a bit hyped trying to be funny. I think I was overly energetic that day,” she admitted. “Of course, we wouldn’t be able to hold concerts without our fans. I’ve always tried to take good care of them.”

The controversy arose after Yuqi and fellow member Minnie revealed during the show that idols only receive four complimentary tickets to their own concerts, and must pay out of pocket for additional ones. Minnie shared she had spent 10 million KRW to invite 100 acquaintances. Yuqi expressed frustration, saying, “Even though it’s our concert, we have to pay ourselves. It doesn’t make sense.”

Her comments, though meant in jest, drew criticism from netizens who felt they were dismissive of how hard fans work to secure tickets and of the behind-the-scenes staff efforts.

Clarifying her intent, Yuqi said, “I was just jokingly calling the company stingy. I didn’t realize my words could hurt fans, and I’m sincerely sorry for that. This experience made me realize I need to be more careful and take even better care of our fans.”

The group’s new mini-album We are was officially released on May 19 at 6 PM KST across all major music platforms.
